Vanhanen's Cabinet 2003 - 2007

 

A State Secretary assists the minister in matter relating to political steering and preparatory work. He/she assists and represents the minister, in line with the minister's instructions, in the drafting of political guidelines, inter-ministerial coordination and harmonisation of positions.

 

The term of the State Secretary, whose position is based on the confidence of the minister, is linked to the term of the minister in question. The need for State Secretaries will be assessed in connection with Government formation talks. The Prime Minister and nine other ministers currently in office have appointed State Secretaries.
