The mission of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is to ensure the Finnish people a healthy living environment, their good health and well-being, adequate living and social security in all phases of life.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health directs and guides the development and functioning of policy on social security, social welfare and health care. It defines the main lines of social and health policy, prepares legislation and key reforms and supervises their implementation, and handles the necessary links with the political decision-making process.
